Welcome to the IDW part II or like Aly called it “The vortex of shit”. In this episode we have returning guest Erik Haines. Erik walks us how the IDW has captured the moment and driven the conversation regarding the culture wars.

There is a lot of anger and frustration and the IDW has been able to capture this moment and get the conversation going. This cannot be a bad thing by any means. The culture wars are buzzing and it definitely exposes people to a lot of ideas and concepts that they would otherwise not be exposed if we did not have this conversation.

The  real issue starts to crumble when we look at the ideas the IDW presents and how they start breaking down once dissected properly. Take Jordan Peterson for example, he touches on very interesting aspects of purpose and meaning, but his views are also totalistic and a tad exaggerated. This pattern of thought is found in most of the members from the IDW, like the Weinstein brothers, Ben Shapiro and Dave Rubin.

Erik is a big believer in integral theory and a big fan of Jurgen Habermas. He argues that these two thinkers provide a better map to navigating the culture wars.
